About VermontPet.com

Featuring Bonkers, our inspirationEight years ago, my wife and I were out shopping for Christmas presents for our two and four legged family members. As we finished up at the typical toy and bookstores we then headed for our local pet store. We were greeted by the usual assortment of dog and cat toys and treats. We brought home a couple of fun treats and toys for our mixed group of four cats and four dogs. After the festivities of the morning we began to assemble the usual tricycles, Barbie houses and remote control this and that. We wanted to also get the four legged critters into all the fun and opened up the treats and toys. After a mere fifteen to twenty minutes of play our plastic feathery thing that we had purchased for the cats was in pieces all over the house along with the rope and balls that we had purchased for the dogs. This is when I had a thought, “I could build some toys that I know would last a long time and that our pets would love to play with.”

In previous years, I had been the manager of the local animal shelter and had been answering behavioral questions to desperate pet owners who were at their wit’s end with their pets destructive quirks. I had seen too many cats and dogs brought into the shelter due to their destructive behaviors. Through VermontPet.com , I want to share some of my ideas on how to fix the issues that bring so many pets into the animal shelters.

Our mission is to make rugged pet toys and supplies that have purpose. We call these products Petware. Petware is more than just a toy or a treat. These items that we offer to you are fun to play with, they are built to take the worst beatings your pets can deliver and they will help you to redirect your pet ’s destructive behaviors.

When we first created these toys it was suggested to us that, because they were so tough, we would my cat Picassobe putting ourselves out of business. The feeling was that people would not have to buy replacement toys for quite some time. What we want are repeat customers who refer their friends and families to us because our products are as tough and as helpful as we say they will be and NOT because the first purchase broke after a day or week or two. We want our customers to get the absolute best satisfaction for their money. We understand the frustration of making a pet product purchase that falls apart the first time it gets used by an over-enthusiastic critter.

Listen To The Animals

Anyone can talk to an animal. We need to listen. Listen with more than your ears. Listen with your eyes and listen with your heart.
If your cat is scratching your couch and he will not use his scratching post in the washroom, he is not being bad. Your cat is telling you, “hey, I want my scratching pad in here!”
Listen and the critters will tell you what they need. We are here to help you listen, to help you have a more happy and healthy relationship with your critters.
      Listen . . . to the Animals.
